In truth, they are two separate entities. The Foos Manufacturing Co. marketed a line of gas engines called The Foos Scientific. These engines were marketed by Foos Manufacturing but in reality they were either built by P.J.Shouvlin and his Superior Engine Co. or Bauroth Engines built by Wm. F. and Emil Bauroth.
The Foos Sientific Mfg Co did not build engines as they marked engines built by Superior and Bauroth Bros. ( William F & Emil) both from Springfield. The Vert Foos in question was built under patent number 494,134 issued on March 28, 1893 and assigned to John Foos and Charles F. Endter.
